In the next few weeks, Mayfield Chiropractic Alexandria will become Mayfield Advanced Medical. This is far more than just a name change; it involves us becoming an integrated medical clinic. We believe that the integrated treatment model is the health care of the future. At Mayfield Advanced Medical, this integrated approach to treating our patients means that medical and chiropractic providers will be working together as a team to treat the physical and internal health needs of our patients.
With this expansion comes the addition of many more types of care to our office. For the past six and a half years, we have prided ourselves on providing the very best of chiropractic care, rehabilitation, massage, and nutritional treatments in Central Louisiana. These added treatments will align with our current health philosophy; they will be 1) safe, 2) effective, 3) conservative, and 4) will allow our chiropractic treatments to work even better. Here is a brief description of just some of the services that will be coming:
Trigger point injections involve injecting benign substances such as saline and lidocaine into trigger points. Trigger Points are painful areas of muscle that are tender and may feel like tight bands or knots when pressed. Pressing on the trigger point will “trigger” pain at the area of pressure and often in other areas. For example, pressing on a trigger point at the top of the shoulder may send pain down the arm or up into the neck. Injecting a trigger point allows these areas of scar tissue to heal, reducing pain and improving function.
Joint injections are like trigger point injections, but involve injecting into a joint space. The injection may be with a substance whose purpose is to replace the joint fluid inside of a joint, or simply saline fluid, which expands the volume of a joint and helps to break up scar tissue in the joint.
Weight loss: It is no secret that being overweight can place additional stress on the musculoskeletal system and cause pain. The other negative health effects of being overweight are too numerous to list here. Taking an integrated, comprehensive approach to weight loss will allow our patients to tackle their weight loss goals.
Amniotic Allografts are the treatment that we are most excited about. These treatments, more commonly known as stem cell injections, involve the injections of fluid containing growth factors, cells, and other substances that are harvested from healthy live births, donated by healthy mothers who have been screened for disease, and tested to be viable. When combined with proper rehabilitation, bracing, and joint mobilization, these stem cell injections can greatly improve the function of joint, and have the potential to enable our patients to take part in activities they haven’t been able to do in years. If you have arthritis, chronic joint pain, or have been told you currently or may one day need a joint injection, you may be a candidate for this treatment.
And of course, we will continue to offer the very best chiropractic care in Central Louisiana.
It has been our honor to serve Central Louisiana for the past six and a half years as Mayfield Chiropractic Alexandria. We look forward to an exciting 2018 and beyond as Mayfield Advanced Medical!
